VEGGIE GARDENING

February 4th, 10:00 a.m.

Learn the techniques used for growing a beautiful vegetable garden in the Brazos Valley.  Our soil and water presents particular challenges to the vegetable gardener.  Learn about fertilization, which varieties to plant, soil conditioning, pest control and more.  Anne Daleon, a Texas Master Certified Nursery Professional will share her techniques with you.



Extreme Couponing (Part 2)

February 11th 10:00 a.m.

For those who attended Part 1 of Extreme Couponing this will further your progress in learning how to extend your grocery shopping budget.



SOLAR OVEN COOKING

February 18th 10:30 a.m.

Learn to cook anything that bakes, boils or steams using the power of the Sun.  Make delicious breads, meats, poultry, casseroles, pasta, pizza, desserts and much more.  Sun-baked foods taste better, stay moister and have less shrinkage than conventional oven-cooked foods.  You cannot burn or over cook your meals using this method.  Cook perfectly in any temperature, the only requirement is sun. Paul Munsen from Sun Oven International will be your instructor.



FRUIT TREES AND BERRY VINES

February 25th 10:00 a.m.

Learn which varieties are best for this area, how to select a good plant, pruning, watering, fertilization, pest and disease management and harvesting.  Anne Daleon, a Texas Master Certified Nursery Professional will be your instructor.


 

RAISING CHICKENS FOR EGGS

March 3rd 10:00 a.m.

Raising Chickens for eggs is easy and fun. Learn which varieties to purchase according to egg production and temperament. Learn coop ideas, how to care and feed and much more. Your family will love having pet chickens that are fun to watch, easy to care for and provide organic delicious eggs everyday.




THE PREPARED PANTRY

March 10th 10:00 a.m.

With the cost of living increasing you can learn how to SAVE MONEY and expand food supplies in your home using long and short-term food storage items.  Learn techniques of shopping and keeping food fresh longer, methods of preserving food, which foods to purchase and their shelf life and ways to preserve without needing a freezer. You can have a three month or more supply of food in your home without ever needing to go the grocery store.



CANNING MEATS

March 17th 10:00 a.m.

Home food canning is no longer just a hobby for your grandmother! Learn how to can meats that are more flavorful and cost effective than store bought canned meat.  Store these meats on your shelf for years at a time and never worry about power outages or losing your frozen meats.  You will also get recipes for using these meats in your everyday meal plan.  There is a $2.00 supply fee for this class.



NATURAL HOME HEALTH REMEDIES

March 24th 10:00 a.m.

What would you do if you didn’t have access to doctors and medicine?  What if you found yourself among the 50 million uninsured Americans?  You are your first line of defense when you or your loved ones are in pain.  Your instructors, Deanna Welch and Ceri Moore have learned the art of healing their family through the use of essential oils and natural herbs along with traditional medicine and will present this class in two consecutive parts. (2 hour class)



BUTTERFLY AND HUMMINGBIRD GARDENING

March 31st 10:00 a.m.

Create a butterfly or hummingbird sanctuary.  Learn what attracts these creatures and keeps them there.  This class will include plant selection, water sources, and supplemental feeding.  Anne Daleon will be your instructor.

Family history is interesting, challenging and has become the number one hobby on the internet.  This is an introductory class to help you begin your personal journey to discover your roots. Your instructor, Beverly Little, has over 40 years experience and has helped countless people with their family history. Come learn more about searching those in your family who played a part of why you are here on earth today.  Come join us to begin your journey.



LANDSCAPING FOR SUMMER

Last year was one of the worst summers for plant growth in our history.  There are things you can do with your plants that will keep them looking good regardless of how hot and dry it becomes.  These things will be the difference between your plants living and dying during the hot summer months.
